Visit Labuhan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara : A "Must" Tourism Destination.

Image
If you happened to meet Indonesians and asked about Labuan Bajo, the responses were surely " Sorry never heard of the name of that city in Indonesia". It sounds reasonable  to  most layperson in Indonesia may be seldom heard of the town of Labuan Bajo since it is only a fishing town on the western tip of Flores in the East Nusa Tenggara,Eastern Indonesia.

Even, probably a lot of tourists, both domestic and international, who have only known tourist destinations in Bali and neighboring provinces those in Jawa Island, as well as West Nusa Tenggara  have, actually, overlooked many other potential sites in the country with much more rewarding visits, of course, with value-for-money attractions, such as those in Labuhan Bajo.
Since Komodo Island was designated as "Komodo Island is the New 7 Wonders of the World", aside from being a small fishing town, Labuan Bajo today has become one of the busiest tourist centers in Flores. This town has become a stopover point fo…

When you are looking for an art performance theater in Jakarta,  Gedung Kesenian Jakarta (GKJ), or Jakarta Art Performance Theater is a good choice. Besides enjoying art performance where artists from all over the archipelago show art performances  such as drama, theater, film, literature, and so forth, you can also learn a lot from its past as it has a long history dating back from the British occupation in Indonesia.

The idea to build a theater in Batavia (now Jakarta) back in 1814 when the British occupied the island of Java. Governor Sir Stamford Raffles was aware that British soldiers should have a place of entertainment, and eventually built a building with a capacity of 250 people. The building was unimpressive as it made of bamboos, and officially opened on October 27, 1814. This form of theater was far from good but  achieved its objectives as an entertainmentbuilding first  entertainingBritish soldiers.

When the Dutch came and colonized Batavia, the entire building was demol…

As an old city, Jakarta has many buildings with high historical values. One of the many buildings is Kimia Farma Building located in Jalan Budi Utomo, Central Jakarta.  It was the first building in Asia ever built in Batavia, later known as Loge La Choisie meaning the chosen loge.

The building was also known as Logebouw De Ster in het Oosten. Locals call it the house of Satan, as the visitors keep secret what they were talking about and do in the building decorated with pilasters and portikus and in the Doric style.

The building was originally built in 1761 by Petrus Albertus Van der Parra and initiated by Jacob Cornellis Matthieu Rademacher, a member of Freemasonry Movement (Vrijmetselaarl)  as a meeting place. In 1848, the building was then renovated to change its front structure from doric style into Indisch Empire style of architecture. At certain moments, Freemasons often held ceremonies with burning candles and wore strange clothes like the clothes of Halloween.
